Diana, Princess of Wales, formerly Lady Diana Frances Spencer, was born on 1 July 1961 in Norfolk. She was the youngest daughter of the then Viscount and Viscountess Althorp. Her Parents divorced when she was young and custody was given to the father. In 1981 she married the prince of whales . The Prince and Princess of Wales had two children, Prince William of Wales on 21 June 1982 and Prince Henry of Wales (commonly called Prince Harry) on 15 September 1984. After comments from the media of her "pudgy" appearance she followed a strict diet . Her eating problems were further exacerbated when her marriage underwent great upheaval, and food became the answer to the emptiness she felt.which led her to be bulimic
During the mid- and late-1990s, after this news became public, there was a sharp incline in the number of bulimia cases. Some people quickly speculated that the news of the princess Diana eating disorder was causing more cases of bulimia to occur. However, another fact was soon revealed: it was because of princess Diana’s admission of her struggle with food that many people, about 90% of them women, were able to come forward and admit that they, too, had an eating disorder. Because of Princess Diana’s courage to combat her eating disorder, many other people have found it in themselves to confront their problem and seek treatment. This movement has come to be known as the ‘Diana Effect.’
Although I find people with Bulimia really stupid because i don't understand the point in making yourself throwup it really isn't a good feeling and i couldn't imagine puting yourself through that everyday just because you are not what you think you should look like. Even though I have a hard time giving respect to people with Bulimia i think Princess Diana did the right thing by aknowledging that she had a problem becuase she helped a lot of people come out and admit that they also had that same problem.

Great job Reshmi, its sad how some people get so caught up with their image that they're willing to "vomit" it all away.
In my opinion people that force them selves to vomit are quite ugly in my eyes O_o.
Its so sad how the pressure of an acceptable social image drives people in the limelight to such extreme measures i never thought she was pudgey. the media thinks if you are not skin and bones then your pudgey wow..
That is so sad. Some people you think they have it all, but they suffer so much. I've never understood how someone would start because I hate throwing up and gorging of food.
man.. that's a horrible pressure from society. i think it's important to take care of yourself/body/image, but taking it to the extremes like that is just completely wrong.
Good job on your blog it really exposes the truth of how society pressures people to vomit to fit in.
I liked your article; I never knew this about Princess Diana. You show her for the great woman she was; she inspired thousands of people to better themselves and fight the disorder. But, you seem to be really critical of people who have bulimia. Although I do agree that it is an idiotic thing to do, I don't find the people who do it stupid, just misguided.
I really liked ur article on princess diana. I never even knew she had bulimia.
